LinuxIT has teamed up with a leading global insurance-based financial services company to pioneer a program to underwrite community based Open–Source software via our extensive verification process.
Based upon a LinuxIT Service Level Agreement (SLA) and an accredited technology catalogue, this unique program provides complete peace of mind for those wishing to embrace the benefits of adopting Open-Source software.
If the software doesn't work as you expect the insurance will enable us to fix it, or replace it with software that does. Cover to the value of £5m is provided.
When you purchase support and indemnification this guarantees the performance of the Open-Source software against an SLA so that if the software doesn’t work as expected due to a bug or another problem then the insurance guarantees that it will be fixed or replaced with a technology that does, within an agreed timeframe. The insurance backing ensures that funds and resources are always available to meet the SLA.
How we select the software for inclusion on the program
First we verify the software. We select the software and version to be indemnified and run it through a 45 point accreditation process. Once we have verified a software version we will maintain a copy of its source code.
If a bug is identified, LinuxIT will immediately call upon its insurance arrangement to allocate resources and money to fix the problem at whatever scale, up to a maximum cost of £5m. This approach is designed to identify the scale of the problem and to ensure that enough resource is available to fix the problem with the agreed timescale.
