You understand the benefits of migrating to an Open-Source/Open-Standards platform but taking the plunge can seem overwhelming, not least of all because you need to make the ROI case to get buy in from management. Migration, however, need not be a complicated endeavour; with a proven methodology and the guidance of experienced LinuxIT consultants, our clients enjoy a smooth transition from design to transition.
Service Scope
The Linux Migration Design Service starts with a discovery workshop to identify the technical details and specifications and define the steps and activities needed in the migration. Once this is complete, attention is focused on planning migration lab/pilot activities. The testing methodologies, acceptances, and physical requirements are agreed and formalised. Finally in close consultation with the relevant stakeholders, the implementation approach is defined explicitly documenting the steps and associated timescales.
Deliverables:
- Executive summary providing SMART objectives for the migration.
- Complete basic ROI/cost savings analysis based on all known variables and any logical assumptions about customer environment, industry standards and proposed future state architecture.
- Formal design documentation.
- Risk assessment listing all hardware and technologies that will be affected by the proposed migration strategy.
- Performance benchmark testing of your applications on the new platform.
