Linux Growth The growth of Linux® has been nothing short of amazing. Making its way into the mainstream in just a few short years, Linux is now the fastest growing server operating system in the world, according to IDC. Industry analysts continue to predict good things for Linux, which is expected to capture 38 percent of the market by 2004, becoming the most widely adopted operating system inthe server environment. Powering its way into virtually every industry, Linux adoption is soaring, and for very good reasons—among them, flexibility, reliability and the low cost of Linux-based solutions for applications such as workload consolidation, distributed enterprise support, Linux clustering, appliances and IBM xSeries™ Linux servers.
